I have always enjoyed the saying on a fridge magnet I once received: “Wine is how I know God loves me and wants me to be happy” but being given the gift of painting is how I know He created me in love. I experience joy in painting the beauty of the world that surrounds us: the beauty of the individual, the beauty of the animal kingdom, the wonders that surround us through landscapes; all the acts of nature and creation are an inspiration to me.

After graduating from university and working in Ottawa, I met and married my husband and moved out West. When I was at home with my children, needing some other outlet besides wine, I took some art classes and rediscovered the joy I experienced painting as a child, I have been painting since, taking many art courses to increase my knowledge and skills. An ongoing journey! I also enjoy using a variety of mediums: pastels because of the luscious colours, oil for it’s richness, watercolour for it’s luminosity, acrylics for their vibrancy and versatility.

While I still love my wine, it is painting that takes me to that inner place where I can experience the joy which I hope to share with others.
